Snoop Dogg, the famous rapper and Long Beach local, recently teamed up with basketball superstar Stephen Curry from the Golden State Warriors to reveal a brand new basketball court at the Boys Girls Club of Long Beach. The event took place at the Martin Luther King Jr. Park facility, and the revamped court was designed by Damion Scott, a talented comic book artist. Snoop and Curry joined the kids present at the unveiling to provide an inspirational speech about the value of community while also giving out custom merch. It was a surprise for those attending the ceremony and a much-needed upgrade for the park’s facilities.
Over 70 children had the unique opportunity to engage in basketball drills with a renowned rapper and basketball star on a newly constructed hardwood court. The refurbishment of the court was made possible through a collaboration between the two celebrities and the Curry Brand, which operates under Under Armour. The organization aims to renovate 20 safe play areas and impact 100,000 young people by 2025. Snoop expressed his attachment to the park, stating that it was where he learned to play sports, interact with the community, and hone his rap skills.
Steph and Snoop have joined hands to make a positive difference in the lives of underprivileged communities by promoting youth sports. The two have been brainstorming ideas on how to collaborate since the launch of Curry Brand last year. They have remained connected and have worked hard to bring their shared vision to life. Both of them have utilized their respective platforms to create a lasting impact on the lives of people.
Snoop and Curry are both passionate about giving back to the Long Beach community and supporting the next generation of basketball players. They aim to provide a fun and competitive space where young athletes can invest in themselves and learn from amazing coaches and programs. Through the Curry brand, they hope to teach kids important life lessons such as building character, being part of a team, and believing in oneself. The refurbished court will benefit thousands of local kids from organizations like the Boys Girls Club of Long Beach and Long Beach Parks and Recreation. This facility has been serving the community for over 40 years, with around 200 kids using its programs every week. For more information on the Boys Girls Club, visit their website at bgclublb.org.
